AIKEN - A Grovetown man has been charged with DUI after a crash near North Augusta Tuesday morning.
South Carolina Highway Patrol charged Kristopher Ray, 36, with driving under the influence after his vehicle rear-ended a dump truck on Interstate 20 near North Augusta Tuesday morning, said Trooper Judd Jones.
Ray was injured in the crash and underwent surgery at the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, Jones said. He was in serious condition on Tuesday night, hospital spokeswoman Denise Parrish said.
Around 9:45 a.m., Ray was driving his 1998 Ford van in the right lane of I-20 eastbound between mile marker 3 and mile marker 4 when his vehicle rear-ended a Peterbilt dump truck.
The driver of the dump truck was not injured.
That was probably a bad choice of vehicles to smash in to.
WRDW said it was a Central Air Conditioning van, guess unless he happens to be the owner, he's out of a job, too.
Glad he hit a dump truck that could take the impact and he didn't kill any innocent people.
Yet another "winner" eating "the breakfast of champions". LOL. You gotta be pretty drunk at 9:45am to not see a dump truck.

Until we get serious about drunk driving, this will continue. A drunk driving offense should be revocation of a license for a 1 year period for first offense, and a second offense should be a lifetime revocation plus incarceration. Damage and or death should be treated as malicious and as premeditated, with appropriate incarceration being applied. STOP the sale of cold AB's at all places of sale. Require breathalyzers when leaving a bar, which should be linked to the alcohol license. Too tough you say? Not even close, we want to prevent the deaths and accidents, here's your starting place. These woosy based fines aren't cutting it. This would put a dent in it and at least stop playing footsie with those out there who think drinking and driving is ok.
Can you imagine a drunk A/C service technician showing up at your house to work on your unit? Who drinks that early in the morning?
Don't believe everything you read. He was NOT drinking!
