Caterpillar expanding SC operation

AIKEN - The South Carolina Department of Commerce announced Tuesday that a Newberry plant plans to add an additional 500 jobs over the next few years.

Caterpillar, a diesel generator manufacturing plant, opened in Newberry in 2006, and plans to increase its production leading to more manufacturing jobs at its plant, according to a press release from the department of commerce. The additional production would be of gensets that provide backup power to retail operations, homes, farms and municipal applications.
