AIKEN - North Augusta authorities arrested a wanted man, and seized close to one pound of marijuana today.
North Augusta Department of Public Safety charged Trebor D. Cockrell, 24, of the 800 block of Merriweather Drive, with possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute and possession of marijuana with the intent to distribute within half-a-mile of a school.
Investigators received a tip that Cockrell, wanted on a separate drug charge, was staying on the Merriweather home. Upon arrival, officers located a gallon-sized plastic bag of marijuana.
Cockrell is being held at the Aiken County Detention Center.
I guess spending time in the slammer for grand larceny didn't teach him much.
Corgimom, that kind of thinking is part of the problem with the over-crowded prison system. The jails are full of young men and women who did nothing more than distribute some weed. The socila evolution is leaning that way. Your comment show no compassion and an even larger lack of understanding.
I went to school with him. He has always been trouble.
"did nothing more than distribute some weed"!!! If it was your child he "distributed" the weed to, would you feel the same way that it was nothing? "lack of understanding"... I understand completely....Mr. Cockrell broke the law apparently more than once since he was wanted on another drug charge when they arrested him for the distribution. The problem with over-crowding prison systems is that people don't care any more about obeying the law. They know if they get caught they either get off on probation or spend little time in jail for their crime.
Should've been legalized over 30 years ago. Soon as they find a way to control distribution or even better; be the sole distributer and adequately tax it.........Presto change-o, it's legal!! Can you say lottery?!
