Georgia's attorney general will visit Augusta next week to discuss youth violence intervention.

Attorney General Thurbert Baker will give a keynote speech on the topic March 25 at the Carrie J. Mays Life Center on 11th Avenue.

The event, which will be held from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., is meant to discuss the causes of youth violence, educate parents and the community about intervention strategies and discuss possible solutions.

Bill Cain, of the National Crime Prevention Task Force -- Gang Intelligence, also will speak. Local organizations will distribute information and representatives from law enforcement, the judicial system, government and civil rights organizations will be present.

The event comes after the recent shooting deaths of two Butler High School students and the violent beating of another Butler student earlier this month.
