A 46-year-old Martinez man says he was robbed and attacked Friday night.

According to a Richmond County sheriff's report, the man received a call from a friend asking if she could borrow $40.

After cashing a check, he went to a residence on Augusta Avenue in Augusta where his friend was supposed to be, the report said. When he arrived about 8:40 p.m., two men were sitting on the porch. One of the men pulled a pistol and struck the victim in the head and face until he fell to the ground. The other man then took $446 from the victim's pocket, the report said.

The victim was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital, the report said. He is not listed in the hospital's registry, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

The suspects were described as black, 20 to 30 years old. One was wearing blue pants and had dreadlocks. The other was wearing a green camouflage jacket.

We need more info before making a judgement call on this one. Did the friend know that the man typically carried around large amounts of cash? If the friend was really at the residence, why don't the police go find him and start asking questions? Was this a drug deal gone bad? Lots of unanswered questions here.

I know I often drive up to my friends' homes, find strange men sitting on the front porch and I don't think twice about it as I roll up with a wad of cash. Yeah, right?! If this is truly what happened, you need to be a little more careful of your "friends."
