Authorities have arrested two men police caught with more $660 in fake bills Wednesday night.
Steven Lampkin, 26, of Augusta Avenue, and Jamaal Thompkins, 25, of Horton Drive, each face multiple counts of first-degree forgery, Sheriff's Sgt. Blaise Dresser said.
The owner of Coyotes nightclub on Peach Orchard Road told the on-duty deputy that one of the men kept coming to the bar and passing fake $20 bills to buy alcohol, according to a Richmond County Sheriff's report.
The bartender became suspicious because the man only brought twenties to the bar, despite her giving him change, Sheriff's Lt. Calvin Chew said.
"The bartender said, 'that's kind of strange because I keep giving him change and he keeps giving me twenties,'" Chew said.
After passing about $300 in fake currency for alcohol, deputies found the men in possession of much more fake cash, the report said. An agent from the U.S. Secret Service is also interviewing the men.
I think this definitely qualifies under DUMB crook news!
LOL..they don't make this stuff up....dumb..dumb...
What is so sad is that the bartender took $300 dollars of fake twenties from them. That would be about fifteen trips to the bar. I wonder if they threw a few in the tip jar?
Was there an empty box of girl scout cookies in their car?
themaninthemirror has it right and beat me to it: $300 divided by $20 = 15 trips to the bar! 15! Something ain't right here, folks...
dumocrats for sure. But it was not their fault it was the evil insurance companies.
obviously the fault of reid, pelosi and the left. I'm sure the bills can be traced directly to the DNC as part of their attempt to both undermine the american economy and provide benefits that can't be funded
it wasnt 15 trips to the same bar....it was divided up between bartenders waitresses the door...geez...everybody just assumes it was all to one person...all of the fake money was collected....coyotes is a very busy nightclub that is packed on wed nights...its not as easy as you people think it is...just be glad that they were both caught and they didnt come to ur business and leave you with some fake money....
themaninthemirror!
something aint right here! on wed night there is appx 300-400 people in that place! 3-4 bartenders and diff employees not sure exactly how many! the men passed that money to five diff people in that buisness in which one person caught him! then turned him in! wow great job in doing that! now i don't i have to worry as much about getting cash like that from those 2 men where i work! and by the way! several locations in south augusta have gotten those bills as of late! hats off to whoever caught em!
