AIKEN - A woman killed in an early morning crash in Windsor has been identified.
Teresa Coffey, 53, of Stillwater Road, Windsor, was identified this afternoon as the victim in a one-car crash near her home, said Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton. The crash likely happened between 1 and 2 a.m. today, but Coffey's body was not discovered by a school bus driver until 6:14 a.m.
Her vehicle, an S-10 Chevrolet pickup, was traveling north on Stillwater Road when it struck the dirt shoulder and overturned.
She died at the scene.
She was not wearing a seatbelt, and investigators believe alcohol was a factor.
Toxicology results are pending.
The crash is the sixth fatal accident in Aiken County this year.
Some people will just never get it no matter how old they get or how much experience they have. I feel terrible for her family, but the one thing I can say is I'm glad that lately all these drunk driving deaths we keep reading about as of lately have not included innocent victims. Thank God for small favors.
