Schwarzenegger to speak to Emory grads

ATLANTA — Emory University's graduation speaker this spring will be California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

Emory President James Wagner announced the news today. During the May 10 ceremony, Schwarzenegger will receive an honorary doctorate of laws from the private Atlanta university.

Wagner said Schwarzenegger's "rise from modest circumstances through hard work" sets a good example for the university's upcoming graduates.

Others who will receive honorary degrees include the Rev. Joseph Lowery, a civil rights icon; former World Bank president James D. Wolfensohn; and award-winning author Melissa Fay Greene.

About 3,600 students are set to graduate from Emory this spring.
