Turnout continued to be light this afternoon in the runoff election for the state Senate District 22 seat as Richmond County voters headed to the polls for the fourth consecutive month.
Lynn Bailey, executive director for the Board of Elections, said she still is projecting somewhere between 10 and 20 percent participation in the election, which is between Harold V. Jones II and Hardie Davis..
"Everything seems to be light, just as we expected," she said. "Voting is a perhaps a little lighter than expected, but it's a little hard to gauge."
The office has fielded fewer phone calls than in recent elections, but that might be because people are more in the habit of voting with the slew of recent contests, Bailey said.
She added no problems had been reported to her and that there were no lines.
A light rain has fallen across the area throughout the day, also possibly affecting turnout. Polls remain open until 7 p.m.

im not so sure it is the rain, maybe they are just tired of voting........
Maybe the picture in this article is a sign of how the election will turn out , Putting one man and his brightly colored umbrella out in the cold rain.
