Authorities plan to charge man with murder in death of baby son

Corduray Keith Scott

Authorities say that they plan to charge an Augusta man with murder following the death of his 3-month-old son on Thursday.

Corduray Keith Scott, 22, of the 1800 block of Fayetteville Drive, was arrested on Monday and charged with first-degree cruelty to children, according to Richmond County sheriff’s Lt. Scott Peebles. He will now be charged with murder, Peebles said.

An ambulance brought the baby to University Hospital on Monday after the child was found trembling and “appearing to have a seizure,” according to the warrant application for Scott’s arrest.

The warrant application indicated that Scott violently shook the child in an attempt to make him stop crying.

The baby suffered nine broken ribs and two detached retinas, Peebles said. He had been on life support.
