Heart attack killed man in morning wreck near Evans High

An autopsy this afternoon determined that a heart attack killed an Evans man whose vehicle crashed into a utility pole.

Blair LeBlanc, 74, of 4560 Mulberry Creek Drive, was pronounced dead shortly after his arrival at Doctors Hospital about 6:30 a.m., said Columbia County Deputy Coroner Harriett Garrison.

LeBlanc crashed his pickup into a utility pole in front of Evans High School on Cox Road shortly before 6 a.m., said Columbia County Sheriff’s Capt. Steve Morris.

An autopsy at the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Augusta revealed LeBlanc had an enlarged heart and had suffered a heart attack, leading to the crash, Garrison said.
