Man charged with breaking Broad Street windows

Police arrested an Aiken man Sunday after witnesses said they saw him vandalizing Broad Street businesses by breaking a number of storefront windows.

According to Richmond County jail records, Jeremy James Pittman, 23, of the 900 block of Kedron Church Road, Aiken, was charged with six misdemeanor counts of criminal trespass.

A Richmond County sheriff’s report states that about 2:50 a.m. deputies responded to the 700 block of Broad Street. A witness told officers of the vandal, who had gotten into a blue vehicle and driven east.

Police found the vehicle and arrested Mr. Pittman, who admitted he had broken out the windows by kicking them.

The vandalized businesses included Harley and Associates Architects at 718 Broad St., Kim’s Snack Shop at 744 Broad St., Wireless Phone Shop at 754 Broad St., and three vacant buildings at 750, 820 and 834 Broad St.
