Man charged with inflicting life-threatening injuries on girl, 2

ATLANTA — A 27-year-old baby sitter faces charges after police say he may have been responsible for a 2-year-old girl's life-threatening head injuries.

Marietta police say Humberto Hernandez-Pineda is charged with cruelty to children and aggravated battery.

Officers responded to an apartment just before midnight Friday to discover the case of suspected child abuse. The name of the child was not released, nor was her condition.

Police did not offer further details.

Hernandez-Pineda is being held without bond in Cobb County's jail on felony charges of cruelty to children in the first degree and aggravated battery.
