Greenbrier teacher hit with car, student charged

An Evans teen was arrested after a Greenbrier High School teacher was struck by a car.

Tyler Pierce Lee, 17, of Woody Hill Circle, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault. He is being held in the Columbia County Detention Center Thursday on a $20,100 bond, according to jail personnel.

Christopher Lane said he was directing traffic in the school parking lot when he stopped Mr. Lee, who was speeding and headed in the wrong direction. Mr. Lee yelled and cursed at Mr. Lane demanding he get out of the way, according to a Columbia County Sheriff’s Office incident report.

After he told Mr. Lee to calm down, the teacher said Mr. Lee drove toward him. When Mr. Lane told the teenager to calm down again, Mr. Lee accelerated forward, hitting the teacher and causing him to fall over the car, the report stated.

Mr. Lane was not injured.
