Authorities predict 34 holiday traffic deaths for Georgia

ATLANTA — Georgia's highway safety office is warning people to stay safe on the roads this holiday season.

The Governor's Office of Highway Safety is predicting as many as 34 people could die in traffic deaths on Georgia roads during the Christmas and New Year's holiday period.

It also estimates more than 5,000 traffic accidents and almost 2,000 injuries.

Some 46 people died in 2008 during the Christmas and New Year's holidays.


Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
