Fog blamed as 2 cars hits same house 5 hours apart

Authorities say heavy fog might have contributed to a Beech Island house being hit twice this morning by two separate vehicles

Won Choi, 49, of the 100 block of Coachman Drive, was driving east on Dixie Clay Road when he drove through a stop sign at the intersection of Pine Log Road and struck the home about 1:30 a.m., according to Lance Cpl. Judd Jones of the South Carolina Highway Patrol. Mr. Choi was charged with driving under the influence and was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital to be treated for minor injuries. His wife, 44-year-old Eiane Choi, was also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

About five hours later, a second car driven by Hawkin Russell, 46, of Warrenville, ran the same stop sign and struck the house at 772 Pine Log Road in Beech Island. He was charged with disregarding a stop sign, Lance Cpl. Jones said.

Authorities said they believe the foggy weather contributed to both accidents.
