Teen faces reckless conduct charge

An Aiken teenager was arrested on Ellis Street early Saturday after he cocked a shotgun around a large group of people, according to police.

About 2 a.m. officers saw a large crowd of people gathering in the 900 block of Ellis Street, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report. As the officers were approaching the crowd, people began yelling that someone had a gun and the crowd began to disperse. Officers then drew weapons on a teenager who was holding a shotgun. The teenager cocked the shotgun and started to run but quit moving and dropped the weapon when the officers ordered him to do so.

Shawn Bernardy Doby, 17, of the 500 block of Lawana Drive in Aiken, was charged with reckless conduct. He is being held at the Richmond County jail on $6,800 bond, according to jail records.
