Columbia County to host flu clinics Thursday

The Columbia County Health Department will be hosting two flu vaccine clinics on Thursday.


Evans Middle School will host a clinic from 3:15 p.m. to 6 p.m., and Grovetown Middle School will host a clinic from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Both the seasonal flu and the H1N1 flu vaccines will be available on a first come, first served basis. The seasonal flu shot will cost $25.

Priority for receiving the H1N1 Influenza Vaccine remains with the following categories:

-- Pregnant women

-- Household contacts and caregivers for children younger than 6 months of age

-- Healthcare and emergency medical services personnel

-- All people from 6 months through 24 years of age

-- Persons aged 25 through 64 years who have health conditions associated with higher risk of medical complications from influenza.


Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
