1 arrested, 1 sought in robbery

An Augusta man and his girlfriend came home about 5:30 p.m. Friday to find two armed men inside his home.


According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the male victim said that one of the men brandished a black handgun and the other a pearl-handled firearm at his home in the 3100 block of Mike Padgett Highway.

The men then took a black wallet containing $1,500, a brown and white puppy valued at $1,000 and a Dell laptop computer valued at $500.

They then fired two rounds in the direction of the male victim and fled on foot.

Carlos Sylvon Staley, 33, of Deans Bridge Road, was arrested after being found near the home with a weapon fitting the description of one of those used in the incident.

The computer and dog were found on Bell Drive and returned to the victim.

Police are still searching for the second suspect.

He was described as black, 18 to 24 years old, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 160 pounds.
