SPARTANBURG, S.C. - A Spartanburg man has been arrested and accused of shooting at four South Carolina sheriff's deputies, including two in a helicopter.
Multiple media outlets reported that 20-year-old Travis Tyrone Jones surrendered shortly before 11 a.m. Tuesday.
No one was hurt.
Spartanburg sheriff's spokesman Tony Ivey says Jones had run from a stolen car during a traffic stop about 15 minutes earlier.
Ivey says Jones fired at a deputy during a chase and then fired at officers and a police helicopter when he was cornered at a vacant lot.
Jones is charged with four counts of assault with intent to kill and with pointing a gun, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, receiving stolen goods and failure to stop for police.
It was unclear if Jones has an attorney.
