Service set for Saturday morning

ATHENS, Ga. - A private funeral service for University of Georgia mascot Uga VII, an English bulldog that died Thursday morning, will be held Saturday morning in Sanford Stadium, the university said this afternoon.

The service will be held in the section of the stadium where previous mascots are buried.

The university plans to keep the time under wraps to prevent a crowd from gathering, because fans will not be permitted in the stadium.

No memorial plans were announced, but the dog’s final resting place likely will be in a wall at Sanford Stadium, the final resting place for the Ugas who have gone before him.
