Police seek suspect after man robbed at downtown church

Richmond County investigators are seeking help in identifying and capturing a suspect in the robbery of a 78-year-old man at a downtown church.

At about 7:30 a.m. Sunday, a young black man robbed a member of the Greek Orthodox Church, 953 Telfair St., as he opened the church for the day.

The suspect fled west on Telfair Street on a black bicycle, after wresting the victim’s wallet away from him. The victim was 78 years old.

The suspect is believed to be about 30 to 35.
