Criticism but no crime in student letter, school cop says

A letter found last month by Richmond County school public safety officers contained harsh criticism about a Davidson Fine Arts teacher but no criminal threat, an official said this morning.

Public Safety Lt. Richard Roundtree said an officer in his department discovered the letter, which included harsh language. It did not, however, threaten the life of a teacher, as some rumors have said.

Lt. Rountree said his department conducted an investigation and closed it after deeming it didn’t rise to the level of a criminal complaint.

The information was forwarded to the superintendent's office last week to be handled administratively, he said.

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office says it is not involved in the case.
