UPS worker accused of drug theft

ATLANTA — A woman who managed a Georgia UPS store has been arrested and accused of stealing a package of marijuana and selling the contents for profit.

Acting United States Attorney Sally Quillian Yates said in a Friday statement that 33-year-old Anna Wright of Atlanta was charged with making false statements to a federal agent and distributing marijuana.

Yates said Wright had been asked to keep an eye out for the package because postal inspectors suspected it contained contraband.

Prosecutors said instead of calling officials when the package arrived, Wright stole the parcel, which contained several pounds of marijuana, and sold most of the drugs.

Each of the charges carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000.
