An Augusta woman's purse was snatched while leaving a Hephzibah grocery store Friday night.
According to a Richmond County Sheriffs Office report, the 60-year-old woman was returning a grocery cart to the front of the Bi-Lo in the 2500 block of Tobacco Road after putting groceries in her vehicle around 8 p.m. As she was walking back, a vehicle drove next to her and lowered the driver side window. The victim stated that she stopped because she thought it might be someone she knew. The driver then reached out and grabbed the victims purse.
The victim began running after the vehicle and yelling for help until she fell in front of a nearby McDonalds, according to the report. Two witnesses, who saw the suspect drive off, described him as a white male, 35 to 45 years old with short brown hair. The witnesses told police he was driving a burgundy or maroon Ford Expedition.
