Duluth fire victims identified

DULUTH, Ga. — Authorities have identified the three sisters who died after becoming trapped by a fire in their Duluth townhome.

Ted Bailey of the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner's Office said today that the victims are: Amirra Wingfield, 12; Dairien Wingfield, 17; and LaToya Jackson, 19. The girls' mother escaped the Friday blaze by jumping off a back balcony.

The two younger sisters died Friday night at Gwinnett Medical Center. Ms. Jackson died late Saturday night.

Firefighters found the girls huddled in a third-floor closet. They were badly burned and unconscious from smoke inhalation.

Investigators believe the fire started in a bedroom on the first level. The cause is under investigation.
