Bullet hits bus, injures pupil

A bullet struck a Richmond County school bus headed back to Augusta from Gwinnett County on Saturday, shattering glass and injuring one pupil.

According to a news release from Louis Svehla, the spokesman for Richmond County schools, the bus was en route and carrying members of an all-county chorus team from Cross Creek High and Murphey Middle schools.

Parents of the pupils, including the injured one, were notified of the incident.

The school system’s public safety department is working with authorities and will be available for comment Monday, according to the release.
