Teen killed in Rock Hill shootout

ROCK HILL, S.C. — Authorities say one South Carolina teen was killed and another person was critically wounded in a shootout.

The Herald of Rock Hill reported today that 18-year-old Tommy Leon Barber Jr. of Rock Hill was fatally shot Friday afternoon at a Rock Hill home. He died later at a local hospital.

Rock Hill Police Lt. Brad Redfearn says a second person also was shot. He would not identify the person.

Police say the wounded person was found in a car that crashed into a utility pole. The crash split two poles and cut off power to the neighborhood.

Barber is the second teenager in eight days murdered in Rock Hill. On Oct. 1, 18-year-old Tyrone King was robbed and shot to death.

Redfearn would not say whether the two shootings are related.
