Riverwalk robbery arrest made

A Blythe man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at the Riverwalk Augusta playground two weeks ago.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report and jail records, Jonathan Lamar Wadley, 20, of 2014 Greenland Road in Blythe, is charged with two counts of robbery by force.

A sheriff’s report says that at about 11:30 p.m. Sept. 18 the man and woman were at the playground when three men grabbed them and stole a purse, two wallets, two cell phones, a set of keys and $157. One of the robbers grabbed the woman around the throat and the other two robbers hit the man. The robbers ran down the Riverwalk ramp at Sixth Street, got into a gray four-door Buick and drove off.

The report says that the man had swelling and redness around his left eye and cuts and scratches on the top of his head. The woman had scratches on her left eye and redness around her throat.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
