Border Bash will close down parts of downtown

The 16th annual Border Bash will close down parts of downtown starting 9 a.m. Friday.

The 800 block of Reynolds Street will be closed from 9 a.m. Friday to 2 a.m. Saturday for the downtown pep rally for the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and the University of Georgia Bulldogs game, said Dennis Ellis, senior traffic engineering technician for the City of Augusta. Crews will begin setting up near the Augusta Commons around 11 a.m., closing the westbound outside lane of the 800 block of Broad Street until 2 a.m. Saturday, Mr. Ellis said.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
