Summer temp only hits 100 twice

This summer's temperatures have been about average, weather experts say, but there is one indicator that things might have been a bit cooler.

The Augusta area has seen only two days this year where the temp topped 100.

Al Moore, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in West Columbia, S.C., says the 100 mark was reached on June 27 and July 1.

Last summer, the Augusta area had five days with temperatures of 100 or higher.

In the summer of 2007, the area had 15 such days, all in August, Mr. Moore said.
