Thomson woman dies in crash

A Thomson woman was killed in a one-vehicle crash early this morning.

Contessa Lemons, 26, was pronounced dead at 4 a.m. at the scene of the crash on Rock House Road, a dirt road in McDuffie County, said McDuffie County Coroner Rhusha Mack. Ms. Lemons was driving down the road about 3 a.m. when she swerved to avoid hitting a deer, her passenger told investigators. When she swerved, she lost control of the vehicle and it rolled over several times.

Ms. Lemons died of blunt force trauma, Mr. Mack said. She was not wearing a seat belt.

Her passenger was not injured.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity
