Thousands protest in Atlanta

ATLANTA — Several thousand people gathered in downtown Atlanta's Centennial Olympic Park to protest health care reform proposed by the president and Congressional Democrats.

The event was hosted by FreedomWorks chairman and former Texas Republican Rep. Dick Armey, conservative talk radio hosts Joel Aaron and Herman Cain.

Speakers included Secretary of State Karen Handel, state Senator Eric Johnson and state Insurance Commissioner John Oxendine, all Republican candidates for governor.

Many people held signs protesting health care reform and cheered loudly as speakers derided the Democratic plans to overhaul the nation's costly health care system.
