Fellow American wins world title

BERLIN — Defending champion Reese Hoffa, a former Lakeside High and University of Georgia standout, finished fourth in shot put final today at the world track and field championships.

Christian Cantwell, of the U.S., won the event, beating Olympic champion Tomasz Majewski, of Poland. Ralf Bartels, of Germany, was third.

Cantwell finished second to Majewski in Beijing last summer.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
