Twin brothers arrested after Butler High School robbery

Twin 18-year-old brothers at Butler High School have been charged with robbery by force after police said they beat up and robbed another student.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s news release, at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday Richmond County officers responded to the high school at 2011 Lumpkin Road in reference to a robbery.

A junior at the school had reported to public safety officers that he was robbed while walking up a stairwell during fourth period class. The student told officers that twin brothers Markale Robbinson and Marcus Robbinson approached him and asked him if he wanted to buy marijuana.

When the student told the two brothers that he did not have any money, they grabbed him by his neck, punched him in the face and took money from the pockets of his pants. Officers observed that the victim had received a red mark on the left side of his neck.

The brothers were arrested and charged with felony robbery by force.

Two other students were also present when the crime occurred but did not participate. The students were searched and public safety officers found a small bag of marijuana on 17-year-old Angelo Pringle, who received a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana.

The news release states that the crime appears to be an isolated incident and is not gang related.
