Rabies vaccination clinic today

A low-cast rabies vaccination clinic will be held today at a Martinez fire station.

Sponsored by Columbia County Animal Care and Control and the Columbia County Humane Society, the clinic runs from 1-3 p.m. at the Martinez-Columbia Fire Rescue headquarters at 3910 Desoto Drive.

Administered by Evans Animal Hospital, 100 rabies vaccinations will be available for $5 per animal.

Thus far this year, there have been six confirmed cases of rabies in Columbia County, said Emergency and Operations Director Pam Tucker.

Three more animals – a bat and two raccoons – recently were sent to a state lab for testing, Ms. Tucker said.

For more information on the clinic, call Animal Care and Control at (706) 541-4077.
