Aiken Sheriff's Office announces 'night out' event for Tuesday

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office announced today that along with the Clearwater Village apartment community it will host a 2009 National Night Out event on Tuesday.

The gathering, taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. at Clearwater Village apartments, will include children's activities, police displays, including the Aiken County Bloodhound and SWAT teams, as well as fingerprint kits being issued for children, a release states.

National Night Out is an event that brings law enforcement, business people, children and parents together to promote neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Also participating will be the Clearwater Fire Department and Palmetto Ambulance Service.



Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
