ALPHARETTA, Ga. - A Canadian fugitive on the run for more than a decade on an attempted murder charge has been arrested in suburban Atlanta.
Alpharetta police spokesman George Gordon says 40-year-old Nedrick Anthony Thomas was caught when he filed a lost property report with police earlier this month and officers ran a background check on him. The check showed he was wanted in Toronto for allegedly trying to shoot someone to death in 1997.
Gordon says Thomas had been arrested eight times in Georgia since then under an assumed name with a Florida driver's license, avoiding detection of the Canadian warrant.
Gordon says Thomas is being extradited to Toronto.
