Man faces molestation charge

A 43-year-old man was arrested this morning and charged with showing pornographic materials to his ex-girlfriend’s 12-year-old grandson.

James Edmund Keenum, of Woodland Avenue, is charged with child molestation and simple battery, according to a Richmond County sheriff’s report. The victim’s grandmother told Richmond County sheriff’s investigators that she returned home Tuesday to find Mr. Keenum locked in a room with her grandson, the report said. When they opened the door, she saw the suspect showing the boy pornographic videos on the computer. The woman began pushing him out of the house and the suspect fought back. The woman then picked up a wooden baseball bat and began poking Mr. Keenum, the report said.

The woman told police that her relationship with Mr. Keenum ended about four months ago but that he was still living in the home, the report said. The suspect was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital to be checked out for chest pains and for a cut on the arm, then was booked in the Richmond County jail.
