3 charged in fund-raising theft

MARIETTA, Ga. — Three more Marietta teenagers have been arrested charged with helping a friend steal from young girls who were trying to raise money for their father's struggling business.

Cobb County police Sgt. Dana Pierce said Katie Leathers and Alexa Michalski, both 18, and an unnamed 16-year-old girl were charged Friday with being parties to a robbery.

A high school cheerleader, 17-year-old Chelsea Steele, was arrested earlier on charges of grabbing a cash box with $147 from the girls' pool-side stand on July 3 and getting into a waiting car.

Pierce said the other three were arrested because they lied to investigators about what happened.

Joe Greene said his daughters and two of their friends set up the stand selling patriotic caps and T-shirts to raise spending money for the summer and to help his business.
