Richmond County Superintendent Dana Bedden announced today the school system's projected shortfall has grown to $7.6 million.
He made the statement after hearing state financial news in a conference call with Gov. Sonny Perdue this afternoon.
The governor told superintendents he will announce a 3 percent cut to the state education funding formula and the equivalent financial cut of three furlough days, Dr. Bedden said.
All non-education budgets will have 5 percent of their funding withheld, Dr. Bedden said.
