Aiken County crash kills one

An Aiken woman was killed early this morning when a vehicle ran off the road about five miles north of Aiken.

Elizabeth Boyd, 23, was pronounced dead at Aiken Regional Hospital at about 6 a.m. after she lost control of her vehicle and ran off Outing Club Road two hours before, according to Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton.

Her car struck a tree on the driver’s side door and Ms. Boyd had to be extricated from the car by Aiken County EMS, Mr. Carlton said in a press release. She died from multiple body traumas.

Authorities said she was wearing a seat belt during the wreck and that a toxicology test is pending.
