Gun discharges, wounding man

One man was arrested and another was taken to a hospital after a gun accidentally went off at a McDonald’s drive-through this morning.

Richmond County Investigator William Leisey said the incident occurred about 3:50 a.m. at the McDonald’s at Deans Bridge and Barton Chapel roads. The men were going through the restaurant’s 24-hour drive-through and were trying to take apart a handgun when one of the men accidentally pulled the trigger and the gun fired, the investigator said.

The victim was shot in the right arm and the stomach. He was taken to the Medical College of Georgia Hospital and was in critical condition, Investigator Leisey said.

The man holding the gun when it went off, Harold Brown Jr., was arrested and charged with reckless conduct, he said.
