Temperature could approach record low

The National Weather Service is forecasting a low of 61 for the early hours of Sunday, approaching a record set 22 years ago.

The record low for July 19 is 60, set in 1987,said meteorologist Leonard Vaughan.

“We will be pretty close,” he said. “Having temperatures in the lower 60s in July, the dead of summer, is a little unusual.”

The average low for July is 70, Mr. Vaughan said. The record low for July was set last year on July 2 at 54 degrees.

“It has been cooler, but it’s still a little abnormal,” he said. “People will really enjoy having the cooler temperatures.
