Police believe Mr. Heggs shot Ricky Watson, 45, in the neck. Mr. Watson was taken by helicopter to Medical College of Georgia Hospital, and was listed in serious condition during the weekend. MCG has not provided an update on his condition.

Around 6 p.m. Saturday, witnesses say, Mr. Heggs yelled at guests at his home to leave, then fired several shots. He and Mr. Watson were wounded. A revolver was found in Mr. Heggs’ yard after he was taken to the hospital.

Police believe both men were drinking and under the influence of narcotics at the time of the shooting.
