The Augusta City Commission, after a lengthy discussion about plans to both build the Trade Exhibit and Event Center and revitalize Laney Walker and Bethlehem neighborhoods, voted today to take two more steps forward.

On a motion from Mayor Pro-Tem Alvin Mason, commissioners approved allowing the city attorney to choose bond attorneys and to have the so-called TEE Center's architects analyze the parking situation, which would find alternatives if the parking desk is not built immediately.

The vote was 6-1, with Betty Beard abstaining. J.R. Hatney had left the meeting and Don Grantham and Joe Bowles were on vacation.

And so why did the so-called slumlord abstain? Isn't she one of the architects of this 'deal'?
