Ex-Lakeside shot putter places third at U.S. Championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- Former Lakeside and University of Georgia shot putter Reese Hoffa placed third at the U.S. Outdoor Track and Field Championships on Sunday.

Hoffa, a two-time Olympian who lives and trains in Athens, Ga., finished with a top throw of 21.10 meters at Hayward Field.

Christian Cantwell came in first with a 21.82-meter throw. Dan Taylor was second at 21.21 meters.


Savannah River Site resumes normal activity

A suspicious item was discovered Wednesday afternoon at the Savannah River National Laboratory which prompted emergency responseactivities.
