Makeshift Jackson memorial outside James Brown Arena

A message is being left at a makeshift Jackson memorial outside Augusta's James Brown Arena

Felecia Jefferson Brown wanted to do her own little part to pay homage to the life of legendary pop singer Michael Jackson.

So, she started a makeshift memorial in front of the James Brown Arena on Friday in honor of Mr. Jackson, who died of a heart attack Thursday.

Ms. Brown -- who said she got permission from the arena management to put up the memorial -- plans to keep it there until the singer's funeral, which hasn't been announced. Some candles and teddy bears have been left at the memorial so far. Visitors can sign their names and leave messages on posters on a wall outside the Seventh Street building.

Ms. Brown, a member of the Citizens Emergency Response Team in Columbia County, said any gifts or item left will be donated to the MCG Children Medical Center.
