Police ask public to help them find restroom attacker

Police have asked the public for help today after an older man reported being beaten and robbed in a Walton Way fast-food restaurant restroom.


The 68-year-old Augusta man said he was beaten and robbed in the Burger King on Walton Way Tuesday afternoon.

He told police a man approached from behind in the restroom and began punching him in the back of the head, according to a Richmond County sheriff's report. The victim pleaded with the assailant to stop and handed him $20 from his wallet, the report said.

The victim said the man turned to leave but began beating him again.

The suspect is described as a short black male between 150-155 pounds, wearing a white shirt with a black horizontal stripe, black shorts, a black and white ball cap and black sneakers.
