Man beaten in robbery attempt

An Augusta man was attacked by two men in Harrisburg on Sunday when he refused to give them anything during an attempted armed robbery.

According to a Richmond County sheriff’s report, the 35-year old man was walking at the corner of Eve and Starnes streets about 2:50 a.m. when two men came out of an alley and told him to “give it up.” After the man told the two that he was not going to give them anything, they attacked him. The man told officers that one of the men struck him on his left side with what appeared to be a small baseball bat, while the other man pulled out a knife and cut the victim’s left arm several times as he was trying to block him from stabbing him.

The man was taken to Trinity Hospital for treatment.

The first attacker was described as black with dreads, about 20 years old and about 6 feet 1 inch tall, weighing about 220 pounds. He was wearing a white shirt and black shorts. The second attacker was described as black with short hair, about 20 years old and about 5 feet 9 inches, weighing about 150 pounds. He was wearing brown shorts and a black shirt.
